The world
On the right bank of the Guadiana River, are the Cuestas de Orinaza or Cerro de San Cristobal, also formerly known as Baxernal or Baxarnal. Today the people of Badajoz remember the founding of their city in the festival called Almossasa Batalyaws (held in late September), as well as other festivals of National Tourist Interest, such as Easter or the Carnival of Badajoz, without forgetting the Festival of Los Palomos, one of the largest in Extremadura, in favor of equality and diversity. It also has the local festivals of San Juan, San José, the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Bótoa (with origins in the fourteenth century and declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in 1965[15]) and the Pilgrimage of San Isidro de Badajoz.
The relief of Badajoz is very flat, since it is largely occupied by the fertile lowlands of the Guadiana. The altitudes of this area, below 200 meters above sea level, are the lowest in Extremadura. As we move away from the river, the altitude increases slightly, so that in the north of the municipality, in the foothills of the Sierra de San Pedro (Sierra de Loriana), it exceeds 500 meters. Also to the south, in the pasture areas near Barcarrota, Valverde de Leganés and Almendral, the relief is somewhat more abrupt.[23] The relief is slightly higher.
